Yes, there is a difference in law firms!

Only a small percentage of cases actually go to court. Insurance companies are well aware of which law firms stand firmly for their clients’ best interests, and which do not. We feel that you should be aware of this, too.

The Greater Kansas City Jury Verdict Service (816-726-7345) collects all verdicts rendered in civil cases in the Kansas City area, including the Kansas counties of Johnson and Wyandotte, and the Missouri counties of Jackson, Clay, and Platte. These include jury trials in both state and federal courts. In addition to non-injury matters, the service reports all verdicts rendered by juries in cases involving car accidents, semi-truck accidents, slip and fall cases, products liability claims, and other personal injury matters which are not work-related.

The Missouri Department of Labor oversees the state Division of Workers’ Compensation. The Kansas City, Missouri, division is responsible for the handling of all work injury claims on the Missouri side of the metropolitan area, including work injury claims occurring in Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties. The Missouri Department of Labor maintains records related to the results of all trials conducted by the Kansas City Division. Edelman & Thompson acquires this data for analysis each year, filing a Sunshine Law (Chapter 610 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri) request.

Why is Edelman & Thompson the Leader for Courtroom Wins in Kansas City?

Great question. After all, we aren’t the largest personal injury firm, and going to court is a risky move. We stand firmly for our clients’ best interests. We want the most compensation possible, but we also want them to achieve maximum healing. Insurance companies fight both of those desires because it costs them money.  Our winning record and our attorneys’ legal experience gives us the confidence to not back down. We prove negligence and their liability for the harm caused to our clients. We document the injuries and treatment, as well as any lifetime impact there may be. Doing so, we are prepared to go to court, if needed.

Attorney Legal Experience Makes a Difference

Our attorneys, on average, have more than 28 years of legal experience. That is more than double the average experience of many other firms. Some firms operate almost entirely with young, inexperienced attorneys. Also, several of our attorney previously worked for the other side, as insurance defense lawyers. Some worked within Missouri’s Division of Workers’ Compensation. Carl Mueller was a work comp judge there for 20 years before joining Edelman & Thompson.
